Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Cream the butter and sugar until smooth, then mix in the cocoa powder.
- In a separate bowl, combine flour, salt, baking soda, and baking powder, then add to the butter mixture and mix until just combined.
- Roll the dough into small balls and make an indent with your thumb in the center.
- Bake for 7-9 minutes until dry looking and lightly cracked but still soft.
- Press the centers down again after baking to create a well for the frosting and allow to cool.
- Whisk together cocoa powder, powdered sugar, hot water, and vanilla to make the frosting.
- Spoon frosting into the centers of the cookies and add sprinkles, then allow frosting to set before storing.
