Ingredients

The chickpeas

  • 1 cup dry chickpeas

The cooking liquid

  • 4 cups cold water
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Pour out the chickpeas on a flat surface and remove any debris or shriveled chickpeas.
  2. Step 2: If soaking, place chickpeas in a bowl with water for 6-8 hours, then drain.
  3. Step 3: Rinse the chickpeas.
  4. Step 4: Add chickpeas, water, and salt to the Instant Pot.
  5. Step 5: For soaked chickpeas, cook on high pressure for 14 minutes; for unsoaked, cook for 45 minutes.
  6. Step 6: Allow a natural pressure release for about 20 minutes.
