Instructions
- Melt butter in a large soup pot over medium heat and whisk in flour until thoroughly combined.
- Continue whisking over medium heat until the mixture browns, about 10 to 15 minutes.
- Add diced vegetables, onion, and garlic to the pot, stirring and cooking until soft, about 10 minutes.
- Stir in the stewed tomatoes with juice, cover, and stir occasionally for 15 minutes.
- Add chicken broth, water, and beer, then stir in all spices and simmer uncovered for 15 minutes.
- Add cooked sausage and seafood, cooking on medium heat until shrimp is fully cooked.
- Serve over cooked brown rice and sprinkle with Filé powder and hot sauce if desired.
