Easy Thanksgiving Turkey

Onion, sliced thick

Orange or Lemon, sliced

Fresh Herbs (use remaining from making the herb butter, or what you have)
Instructions
- Thaw the turkey if it is frozen, ideally 2-3 days in advance.
- Prepare the turkey by positioning the oven rack on the lowest level and preheating the oven to 325° F.
- Remove the turkey from packaging and place it in a shallow roasting pan, patting it dry with paper towels.
- Make the herb butter by mixing together the softened butter, rosemary, thyme, sage, garlic, salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- Loosen the skin of the turkey and insert the herb butter underneath, then coat the outside of the turkey with the remaining butter.
- Stuff the cavity of the turkey with the onion, orange, apple, and any remaining herbs, then tie the legs together.
- Cook the turkey in the oven for approximately 15 minutes per pound, checking its temperature about ⅔ of the way through.
- Remove the turkey when it reaches 160° F in the thickest part of the thigh and let it rest for 25 minutes before serving.
