Ingredients

The cake

  • 2 cups cake flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 6 Tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • cup sour cream
  • cup whole milk
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • cup sprinkles
  • 2 pints ice cream

Ganache Topping

  • 1 4-ounce semi-sweet chocolate bar
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • optional sprinkles for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven and prepare a loaf pan.
  2. Mix the dry ingredients in one bowl and the wet ingredients in another, then combine them.
  3. Fold in the sprinkles and pour the batter into the prepared pan.
  4. Bake the cake until a toothpick comes out clean, then cool completely.
  5. Slice the cooled cake into three layers.
  6. Soften the ice cream and assemble the layers in the loaf pan, alternating cake and ice cream.
  7. Cover and freeze the assembled cake for at least 8 hours.
  8. Make the ganache by heating cream and pouring it over chopped chocolate, then let it thicken.
  9. Remove the cake from the pan, pour ganache on top, and let it set before slicing.
