Homemade Pork Gyoza

Ingredients

The filling

  • 4 cups finely shredded or chopped cabbage
  • 2 Tbsp canola or vegetable oil
  • 3 pieces green onions
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 Tbsp grated ginger
  • ½ Tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • ½ lb. ground pork

The wrappers

  • 50 pieces gyoza or wonton wrappers

Instructions

  1. Sauté the cabbage with 1 Tbsp oil until wilted, then transfer to a bowl.
  2. Slice the green onions, mince the garlic, and grate the ginger, then add them to the bowl with the cabbage.
  3. Add soy sauce, sesame oil, and ground pork to the bowl and mix until sticky.
  4. Spoon about 1 tsp of the mixture into the center of a wrapper, wet the edges, fold, and pinch to seal.
  5. Heat 1 Tbsp oil in a skillet, add gyoza seam side up, and fry until golden brown.
  6. Add water to the skillet, cover to steam for 1-2 minutes, then remove the lid and crisp the bottoms again.
  7. Serve hot.
