Homemade Pizza Sauce

Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 28oz. can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 6oz. can tomato paste
  • ½ Tbsp sugar
  • ¾ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • ½ tsp dried oregano
  • to taste none freshly cracked black pepper
  • 1 pinch crushed red pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a sauce pot and sauté minced garlic until soft and fragrant.
  2. Add crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, salt, basil, oregano, cracked pepper, and red pepper flakes to the pot and stir to combine.
  3. Cover the pot, bring to a simmer, then reduce heat to low and let simmer for at least 15 minutes, up to 30 minutes.
