Fresh Cranberry Margaritas

Ingredients

Cranberry Jam

  • 1 ½ cup fresh cranberries
  • ½ cup light agave nectar or sugar
  • ¼ cup fresh orange juice
  • 2 teaspoons orange zest

Sugar and Spice Blend

  • 1 tablespoon kosher salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • ¾ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground ginger
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cloves or allspice

Margarita

  • 1 cup fresh orange juice
  • ½ cup fresh lime juice
  • 1 ½ cup silver/blanco tequila
  • 8 pieces star anise (optional garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the cranberry jam by boiling cranberries, agave (or sugar), orange juice, and water, then simmer until thick.
  2. Mix the sugar and spice blend ingredients on a plate.
  3. Rim the glasses with lime and then dip them into the sugar and spice blend.
  4. For each cocktail, shake lime juice, orange juice, tequila, and cranberry jam in a shaker and strain into the prepared glass.
