Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C) and prepare a 9-inch round cake pan.
- Whisk together the cake flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
- In a mixer, beat the softened butter until creamy, then add the sugar and mix until combined.
- Add the egg whites, sour cream, and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk, and mix until just combined.
- Fold in the sprinkles gently.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 27-31 minutes.
- Allow the cake to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.
- For the buttercream, beat the softened butter until creamy, then add the confectioners’ sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla extract, mixing until fluffy.
- Spread the buttercream over the cooled cake and top with additional sprinkles if desired.
