Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and prepare the baking pans.
- Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
- In a mixer, combine the sugar and orange zest, then add butter and vanilla, beating until fluffy.
- Mix the milk, egg whites, and orange juice in a measuring cup.
- Alternate adding the dry and wet ingredients to the mixer until smooth.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pans and bake until a skewer comes out clean.
- Allow the cakes to cool before frosting.
- Beat the butter for the frosting until smooth, then add powdered sugar, salt, vanilla, and cream.
- Color portions of the frosting for decoration and pipe onto the cooled cake.
