Vegan Mushroom Meatballs

Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the ground flax and water, and let it sit until it thickens.
- Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat and sauté the onions until softened, then add the mushrooms and cook until lightly browned.
- Let the mushroom mixture cool for 5-10 minutes.
- Blend the roasted nuts in a food processor until they form a fine meal, then mix with flour in a bowl.
- Blend the cooled mushroom mixture with garlic until it forms a paste.
- Combine the mushroom paste with the flour mixture, adding tamari, nutritional yeast, basil, paprika, parsley, and onion salt.
- Mix in the flax egg, and if the mixture is too soft, chill in the fridge for 30 minutes.
- Shape the mixture into meatballs and place them on the baking sheet.
- Bake for 20 minutes, then flip the meatballs and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes.
- While the meatballs bake, heat the red pepper sauce ingredients in a saucepan until warm.
- Combine the baked meatballs with the warm sauce and serve garnished with basil and cracked pepper.
