Shira-ae (Mashed Tofu Salad)

Instructions
- Drain excess water from the tofu by wrapping it in paper towel and placing a weight on top for 15 minutes.
- Grind the sesame seeds in a mortar and pestle.
- Break the tofu into the mortar, add sugar and salt, and mix well.
- Cut the konnyaku and carrot into bite-sized pieces and cook them in boiling water for a few minutes, then drain.
- Reconstitute hijiki by soaking it in water for about 20 minutes, then drain and squeeze out excess water.
- Combine all ingredients in a large mixing bowl just before serving.
