Mexican Style One Pot Beans

Instructions
- Clean and rinse the beans, then soak them in water for 6 to 9 hours.
- After soaking, drain the beans and return them to the pot.
- Mix in garlic, ham bones (if using), onion, cumin, chili powder, and black pepper.
- Pour broth over the beans to cover them by at least 1 inch, then bring to a boil.
- Simmer uncovered for 90 minutes or until the beans are tender, checking liquid levels halfway.
- Once tender, remove ham bones (if using) and add salt, jalapenos, and cilantro.
- Cook on low for an additional 25-30 minutes until the jalapenos are softened.
- Remove from heat and garnish with cilantro and chili pepper before serving.
