Ingredients

The pasta

  • 1 pound pasta

The cooking liquid

  • 5 ½ cups water
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Break spaghetti noodles into thirds and add them to the pot in a criss-cross manner.
  2. For short-cut pasta, pour the noodles directly into the pot.
  3. Add 5 ½ cups of water and 1 teaspoon of salt to the pot.
  4. Secure the lid and set the steam release valve to Sealing.
  5. Cook at high pressure for 3 minutes for regular or whole wheat pasta, or 0 minutes for gluten-free pasta.
  6. Allow the pressure to naturally release for 10 minutes for regular pasta or 8 minutes for gluten-free pasta.
  7. Release any remaining pressure and open the lid when safe.
  8. Stir the pasta, check for tenderness, then drain and rinse to remove excess starch.
  9. Serve warm with your favorite sauce and toppings.
