Ingredients

The pasta

  • 12 ounces short whole grain pasta

The filling

  • 1 ½ cups ricotta cheese
  • 1 large egg

The sauce

  • 3 cups marinara sauce or sauce of choice

The topping

  • ½ cup grated cheese (e.g. mozzarella, parmesan)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the ricotta and the egg.
  3. Cook the pasta according to package instructions, then drain it.
  4. Add the cooked pasta to the ricotta mixture and stir to combine.
  5. Spread half of the marinara sauce in a 9x13 inch casserole dish.
  6. Layer the pasta mixture on top of the sauce.
  7. Pour the remaining sauce over the pasta and sprinkle with grated cheese.
  8. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  9. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes until the cheese is melted and slightly browned.
  10. Serve immediately.
