Ingredients

The beef

  • 2 large steaks (sirloin, filet mignon, or flank steak)
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper

The breading

  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg (whisked)
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs

For frying and serving

  • 2 tablespoons oil (for frying)
  • ¼ cup katsu sauce

Instructions

  1. Slice the steaks down the center and pound them to ½-inch thickness, then season with salt and pepper.
  2. Set up three bowls: one with flour, one with the beaten egg, and one with panko breadcrumbs.
  3. Dredge the steaks in flour, dip in the egg, and coat with panko breadcrumbs.
  4. Heat oil in a non-stick pan over medium heat until it reaches 350°F.
  5. Fry the steaks for 4-5 minutes, flipping halfway through, then remove and drain on paper towels.
  6. Serve with katsu sauce.
