Bread Stuffing for Two

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup butter
  • ½ large onion, chopped
  • 2 ribs celery, chopped
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • to taste salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • ¼ cup fresh parsley, minced
  • ½ teaspoon fresh sage, minced
  • ½ teaspoon fresh thyme, minced
  • ½ teaspoon fresh marjoram, minced
  • ½ loaf French bread, cut into cubes

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and butter a 9-inch square baking pan.
  2. Melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat, then add the onion and celery, sautéing until soft.
  3. In a bowl, beat the egg and whisk in the chicken broth, salt, and pepper.
  4. Add the fresh herbs to the skillet, cook briefly, then mix with the egg and broth mixture.
  5. Toss in the bread cubes and combine well, then transfer to the baking dish.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until crispy.
