Ingredients

The cake

  • cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 6 tablespoons oil
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup raspberries

The frosting

  • 1 cup chocolate frosting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180C/350F and grease an 8-inch cake pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add the vanilla extract, vinegar, oil, and water to the dry ingredients and mix until well combined.
  4. Transfer the cake batter into the prepared cake pan.
  5. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a skewer comes out clean.
  6. Allow the cake to cool completely before frosting.
  7. Spread a thin layer of chocolate frosting on the cooled cake, add a layer of raspberries, and then a thicker layer of frosting.
