Sugar Free Barbecue Sauce

Ingredients

  • 12 oz tomato Passata
  • ½ cup apple cider vinegar
  • cup powdered erythritol
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp hickory smoke flavoring or liquid smoke
  • 2 tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp sea salt
  • 1 ½ cup water
  • ¼ tsp cayenne pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. Whisk all ingredients together in a saucepan, adding the water last.
  2. Start with 1 cup of water, whisking in more until the desired consistency is reached.
  3. Bring to a gentle boil at medium-high heat while whisking continuously.
  4. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer uncovered for 15-20 minutes, stirring frequently.
  5. Taste and adjust sweetener or cayenne pepper as desired.
  6. If the sauce is too thick, add additional water a tablespoon at a time.
  7. Bottle and store in the refrigerator.
