The main ingredients

  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts, grilled and cut into strips
  • 1 pound asparagus, ends removed and cut into 1 inch pieces
  • 10 ounces linguine pasta
  • ¾ cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper
  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • cup finely shredded parmesan cheese

Optional garnishes

  • lemon slices
  • chopped parsley

Instructions

  1. 1. Cook the pasta in salted water according to package instructions and add asparagus during the last 3 minutes of cooking.
  2. 2. Reserve ¼ cup of the pasta cooking liquid.
  3. 3. In a small pot, combine heavy cream, butter, salt, and pepper over medium-high heat and bring to a simmer, stirring until thickened.
  4. 4. Remove from heat and stir in lemon zest and juice.
  5. 5. Combine the pasta, asparagus, and chicken in the pot, then pour the cream sauce over and toss to coat, adding reserved pasta water if needed.
  6. 6. Stir in parmesan cheese and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.
  7. 7. Garnish with parsley and lemon slices if desired before serving.
