Ingredients

Shiratama Dango (Glutinous Rice Flour Dumplings)

  • ½ cup glutinous rice flour (or Shiratamako)
  • ½ teaspoon sugar
  • tablespoons lukewarm water

Matcha Tea and Sweet Red Bean

  • 1 tablespoon matcha powder
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 6 ounces canned sweet red bean paste (anko) or sweet red bean soup

Instructions

  1. Combine glutinous rice flour and sugar in a bowl, then gradually add water to form a dough.
  2. Roll the dough into a smooth ball, flatten it, and divide into 12 pieces, rolling each into a ball.
  3. Boil water in a saucepan, add the shiratama dango, and cook until they float, about 2 to 3 minutes.
  4. Drain the dango and cool them in ice water.
  5. Mix matcha powder and sugar in a bowl, then whisk in hot water until smooth.
  6. In serving bowls, add sweet red bean paste, top with shiratama dango, and pour matcha tea over them.
