Ingredients

The base

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon fine salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 6 large eggs
  • 3 tablespoons butter

The filling

  • 8–10 ounces diced ham
  • ½ small yellow onion
  • ½ medium bell pepper
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Seasoning

  • to taste black pepper
  • to taste fine salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F and grease the casserole dish.
  2. Sauté diced onion and bell pepper in butter until tender.
  3. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, salt, milk, one egg, and melted butter until smooth.
  4. Pour the batter into the dish and sprinkle with cheese.
  5. In the same bowl, whisk remaining eggs, milk, and butter, then add sautéed veggies and ham.
  6. Pour this mixture over the batter and cheese in the dish, then top with remaining cheese.
  7. Bake for about 35 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Let it cool for 5 minutes before serving.
