Ingredients

The fish and tortillas

  • 1 pound firm, mild white fish fillets cut into strips
  • 8 small corn tortillas
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • 1 ½ cups seafood breading mix
  • ¼ cup vegetable oil

The toppings

  • 1 cup shredded cabbage
  • ½ cup red salsa
  • optional cilantro sprigs
  • optional lime wedges

The sauce

  • cup plain yogurt
  • cup mayonnaise
  • 2 teaspoons water
  • to taste salt and pepper

Instructions

  1. Brush water over the fish pieces and sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  2. Coat the fish in seafood breading mix.
  3. Heat oil in a pan over medium-high heat and cook the fish until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  4. While the fish cooks, whisk together yogurt, mayonnaise, water, and season with salt and pepper for the sauce.
  5. To assemble tacos, place cabbage on each tortilla, add fish, top with salsa, and drizzle with the sauce.
  6. Serve immediately, garnished with cilantro and lime if desired.
