Instructions
- Place the onion, celery, mushrooms, garlic, rice, raw chicken, salt, and pepper in a slow cooker.
- Pour the chicken broth over the ingredients.
- Cook on low for 4 to 5 hours.
- Chop or shred the chicken and stir in the heavy cream.
- Ladle the soup into bowls and top with toasted almonds if desired.
