Creamy Mac and Cheese

Ingredients

The pasta

  • 2 cups cellentani pasta or elbow macaroni

The sauce

  • ½ cup evaporated milk
  • 1 cup grated muenster cheese
  • ½ cup grated sharp cheddar cheese
  • ¼ tsp cayenne
  • ¼ tsp garlic powder
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • a pinch mustard powder
  • a pinch nutmeg
  • a pinch salt
  • 2 Tbsp sour cream
  • 2 Tbsp freshly grated parmesan cheese (optional)
  • to taste freshly cracked black pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. 1. Boil salted water in a large saucepan and cook the pasta until al dente.
  2. 2. In a large sauté pan over medium heat, warm the evaporated milk until it starts to bubble.
  3. 3. Add the grated cheeses to the milk and stir until melted.
  4. 4. Reduce the heat to low and add all the seasonings, mixing until combined.
  5. 5. Turn off the heat and stir in the sour cream until well combined.
  6. 6. Drain the pasta and add it to the cheese sauce, stirring until all pasta is coated.
  7. 7. Serve hot, topped with optional parmesan cheese and cracked black pepper.
