Ingredients

Ice Cream Base

  • 2 cups whipping cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ¾ cup lightly packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

Caramel Sauce

  • ½ cup real butter
  • ¾ cup lightly packed brown sugar
  • 4 tablespoons cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • to taste flaky sea salt

Instructions

  1. Whisk together all ice cream base ingredients.
  2. Process the mixture in an ice cream maker.
  3. For the caramel sauce, heat butter, brown sugar, and cream in a pot, stirring until melted.
  4. Bring the mixture to a boil, then simmer for 3-5 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla and salt to taste.
  6. Cool the caramel sauce to room temperature.
  7. Once the ice cream is finished churning, layer it in a container and drizzle in the caramel sauce.
  8. Sprinkle in flaky sea salt if desired.
  9. Freeze until firm and serve with additional caramel if desired.
