The pesto

  • 1 cup basil (fresh, leaves only)
  • 3 tablespoons pine nuts
  • ¼ cup parmesan cheese (freshly grated)
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

The main ingredient

  • 1 block cream cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  2. Combine the basil, pine nuts, parmesan cheese, garlic, and olive oil in a food processor and blend to make the pesto.
  3. Place the cream cheese block on a baking tray, optionally lined with parchment paper.
  4. Spread a thick layer of pesto over the cream cheese.
  5. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until the top is brown and bubbly.
  6. Serve with whole grain crackers or toast points.
