Ingredients

The crisp topping

  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • ½ cup light brown sugar
  • ½ cup walnuts, finely chopped
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup butter, melted

The blueberry filling

  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • teaspoon salt
  • 6 cups blueberries
  • to taste vanilla ice cream (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the crisp topping by mixing flour, oats, brown sugar, walnuts, cinnamon, and salt in a bowl, then drizzle melted butter over and toss to combine. Refrigerate while preparing the filling.
  2. Preheat the oven to 350°F and coat a 9x13 inch baking dish with nonstick spray or butter.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt, then add blueberries and toss to coat.
  4. Pour the blueberry mixture into the prepared baking dish and sprinkle the topping over it.
  5. Bake for 50 to 60 minutes until the juices bubble and the topping is golden brown, then cool for 15 minutes before serving.
