Instructions
- Cook the fettuccine according to package directions until al dente, reserving about 1 cup of pasta water.
- In a skillet or saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat and sauté the garlic until fragrant.
- Add the chopped basil and reduce the heat to medium-low.
- Whisk in the heavy cream and then add the grated Parmesan cheese, stirring until smooth.
- Season the sauce with salt and pepper.
- Drain the pasta and add it to the sauce, tossing to coat. If the sauce is too thick, add reserved pasta water as needed.
- Garnish with nutmeg if desired and serve immediately.
