Ingredients

  • 12 ounces unsalted butter, softened
  • cups granulated sugar
  • 6 large eggs at room temperature
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C) and grease a tube pan.
  2. Cream the butter and sugar on high speed until fluffy and white, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. Mix the flour, baking powder, and salt into the batter, then add milk and vanilla extract, stirring until combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the greased pan and tap to eliminate air bubbles.
  6. Bake for 60-80 minutes until a tester comes out clean.
  7. Cool on a wire rack before slicing and serving.
