Roasted Butternut Squash

The squash

butternut squash
The seasoning

roasting oil or butter

sea salt

ground black pepper
Optional toppings

maple syrup

teaspoon
cinnamon

nutmeg

nuts like pecans or walnuts
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (205°C).
- Cut the ends off the squash and slice it in half lengthwise.
- Scoop out the seeds from the squash.
- Brush the cut sides with oil or butter and add any additional toppings if desired.
- Place the squash cut-side down on a parchment lined baking sheet.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes until soft.
- If using toppings, add them about 10 minutes before the end of baking.
- Turn the squash halves over and brush with the topping mixture, then continue roasting cut side up.
- Allow to cool and enjoy or use in your favorite recipes.
