Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and prepare two 9-inch cake pans.
- Combine flour, baking soda, salt, and baking powder in a bowl and set aside.
- Cream the butter in a stand mixer until creamy, then mix in the cocoa and vegetable oil.
- Add granulated sugar and brown sugar to the butter mixture and beat until fluffy.
- Incorporate eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla extract and sour cream.
- Gradually add the flour mixture and milk, alternating between the two.
- Stir in hot coffee until combined.
- Divide the batter between the prepared pans and bake for 40 to 45 minutes.
- Once baked, cool the cakes in the pans, then on a wire rack.
- For the frosting, beat softened butter until fluffy, then mix in cocoa and vanilla.
- Gradually add confectioners' sugar and milk until desired consistency is reached.
- Assemble the cake by layering with frosting and refrigerate before serving.
