Ingredients

The tea base

  • 2 bags herbal tea (such as ginger tea, orange hibiscus, or herbal tea of choice)
  • 6 oz dairy free milk or water

The golden milk

  • 10–12 oz almond milk or coconut milk
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon (divided)
  • 1 teaspoon whole cloves or ¼ teaspoon ground cloves
  • a pinch nutmeg (optional)
  • ¼ cup maple syrup or raw honey (maple syrup for vegan)
  • Juice from 1 medium orange orange or blood orange
  • 1 tablespoon 100% pure MCT oil (optional)

Instructions

  1. Steep the tea bags in 6 ounces of milk or water for 5-7 minutes.
  2. In a small pot, combine 10-12 ounces of almond or coconut milk with ginger, cloves, nutmeg, turmeric, black pepper, cinnamon, maple syrup, orange juice, and optional coconut oil, then whisk together.
  3. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
  4. Strain the mixture if whole cloves were used.
  5. Pour 2-3 ounces of brewed tea into a cup.
  6. Whisk the golden milk again to create a frothy texture and pour it over the tea.
