Ingredients

The meat and vegetables

  • 1-2 Tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 1 Onion chopped
  • 1 lb Lean Ground Beef or Ground Turkey

The seasonings

  • 1 teaspoon Kosher Salt
  • ¼ teaspoon Pepper
  • ½ teaspoon Onion Powder
  • ¼ teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes
  • 2 ½ teaspoons Italian Seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon Basil, dried
  • 3 cloves Garlic, pressed or minced

The liquids and pasta

  • 2 cups Low Sodium Chicken Broth or Water
  • 8 oz Spaghetti Noodles (broken in half)
  • 1 can (14 oz) Diced Tomatoes, drained (optional)
  • 1 jar (24 oz) Spaghetti Sauce

For garnish

  • Parmesan Cheese

Instructions

  1. Prepare all ingredients by chopping vegetables and weighing pasta.
  2. Set the Instant Pot to sauté mode, heat olive oil, and cook onions until soft.
  3. Add ground beef or turkey, breaking it apart and cooking until mostly done.
  4. Drain excess grease if necessary, then add seasonings and cook for a few minutes.
  5. Stir in garlic and cook briefly before adding broth or water, scraping the pot's bottom.
  6. Layer broken spaghetti noodles over the meat mixture without stirring.
  7. Pour diced tomatoes and spaghetti sauce over the noodles without stirring.
  8. Seal the pot and set to pressure cook for 7 minutes.
  9. Perform a quick release of pressure when cooking is complete.
  10. Stir the spaghetti well, let it sit for a few minutes to thicken, then serve with parmesan.
