The dressing

Instructions
- 1. Boil a large pot of water and prepare a bowl of ice water.
- 2. Cook the broccoli and cauliflower in boiling water for 2 minutes.
- 3. Transfer the vegetables to the ice water to stop cooking, then drain them.
- 4. In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, balsamic vinegar, maple syrup, salt, and pepper.
- 5. In a large bowl, combine the drained broccoli and cauliflower with cheese, red onion, carrots, and walnuts.
- 6. Pour the dressing over the salad and toss to combine.
- 7. Refrigerate for one hour before serving.
