Spanish Sangria

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 3 cups red wine
  • 2 pieces oranges
  • 1 piece lemon
  • 2 ounces whisky or any hard liquor of your choice
  • 1 piece cinnamon stick
  • 1 piece green apple, sliced
  • 2 pieces peaches, sliced
  • 1 can lemon soda or sparkling water

Instructions

  1. Make syrup by dissolving sugar in water over low heat until clear, then let it cool.
  2. Wash the orange and lemon, cut off the rind, and squeeze out their juice.
  3. In a large pitcher, combine the red wine, syrup, orange juice, lemon juice, and whisky. Stir well.
  4. Add the cinnamon stick and pieces of orange and lemon rind, then cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
  5. Serve the sangria cold in a glass with apple and peach slices, topping off with lemon soda or sparkling water if desired.
