Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F and prepare a baking tray with parchment paper.
- In a food processor, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add butter and pulse until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add buttermilk and pulse until the dough begins to clump together.
- Transfer the dough to a floured surface, pat it down to about ¾-inch thick, and cut out rounds using a biscuit cutter.
- Place the scones on the baking tray and create a well in the center of each for the jam.
- Fill the wells with jam, being careful not to overfill.
- Whisk together the egg and water, then brush the mixture over the scones.
- Bake for 14 to 16 minutes until lightly golden.
- In a bowl, whisk together the ingredients for the glaze until smooth, adjusting the milk for desired consistency.
- Brush or drizzle the glaze over the warm scones.
