Ingredients

The scones

  • 1 ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup heavy cream
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

To serve

  • to taste butter
  • to taste jam

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F and prepare a baking sheet.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Combine heavy cream and vanilla in a separate container, then drizzle over the flour mixture and stir until a shaggy dough forms.
  4. Shape the dough into a ball on a floured surface and flatten into a disk about 5 ½ inches across.
  5. Cut the disk into six wedges and transfer them to the prepared baking sheet, spacing them apart.
  6. Brush the tops with additional cream for browning.
  7. Bake for 14 to 16 minutes until golden and baked through.
  8. Let sit for 5 minutes before serving warm.
