Classic Baked Scones

Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
- Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt together.
- Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles fine crumbs.
- Combine the beaten egg with 4 tablespoons of milk and add to the dry mixture, mixing with a fork.
- If necessary, add up to 2 additional tablespoons of milk to bring the dough together.
- Gently pat the dough into a circle about ½ inch thick.
- Brush the top with milk or beaten egg and sprinkle with sugar.
- Cut into 6 wedges and place on a cookie sheet.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until the bottoms are golden-brown and the tops are set.
- Serve warm with butter and jam or let cool for later use.
