Ingredients
The dough

all-purpose flour

unsalted butter (frozen)

heavy cream or buttermilk

teaspoons
pure vanilla extract
Add-ins
1–1.5
cups
add-ins (chocolate chips, berries, nuts, etc.)
Topping (optional)

Instructions
Whisk the flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder in a large bowl.
Grate the frozen butter and mix it into the flour mixture until crumbly.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, egg, and vanilla extract.
Combine the wet and dry ingredients, then add your chosen add-ins.
Form the dough into a disc and cut it into wedges or drop spoonfuls onto a baking sheet.
Brush the scones with remaining heavy cream and sprinkle with coarse sugar if desired.
Refrigerate the scones for at least 15 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 400°F (204°C).
Bake for 18-26 minutes until golden brown.
