Ingredients

The scones

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 5 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, cut into 1/4-inch cubes
  • ½ cup cinnamon chips
  • 1 cup heavy cream

The cinnamon sugar topping

  • 1 tablespoon heavy cream
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse meal.
  3. Stir in the cinnamon chips, then pour in the heavy cream and mix until a dough forms.
  4. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead just until it forms a ball. Pat into a ¾-inch thick circle and cut into triangles or use a biscuit cutter.
  5. Place the scones on the prepared baking sheet. Brush with heavy cream and sprinkle with the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes until light brown. Cool on a wire rack before serving.
