Instructions
- Whisk together the dry ingredients in a large bowl and grate the frozen butter into the mixture.
- Combine the wet ingredients in a separate bowl and drizzle over the dry mixture, then add the chopped apples and mix until moistened.
- Dust a work surface with flour, pour the dough onto it, and shape it into an 8-inch disc, cutting it into 8 wedges.
- Brush the scones with heavy cream and sprinkle with coarse sugar if desired.
- Refrigerate the shaped scones for at least 15 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (204°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Bake the scones for 22-25 minutes until golden brown, then cool slightly before adding caramel.
