Ingredients

The beef and vegetables

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 pound flank steak
  • 1 large onion
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 head broccoli
  • 1 large bell pepper

The Hunan sauce

  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • ½ cup beef broth
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon fish sauce
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons chili paste
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Hunan sauce by whisking together the sesame oil, beef broth, soy sauce, fish sauce, white vinegar, brown sugar, chili paste, and cornstarch in a small bowl.
  2. Heat oil in a large skillet or wok over medium heat, then add the beef strips and cook until no longer pink.
  3. Remove the beef and add the chopped vegetables to the pan, cooking until tender.
  4. Return the beef to the pan and pour the prepared Hunan sauce over the mixture, cooking until the sauce thickens.
  5. Serve warm and enjoy.
