Ingredients

Hunan Sauce

  • ½ cup beef broth
  • tablespoons tamari sauce (or soy sauce)
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons red chili paste (sambal oelek)
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon honey

Hunan Beef

  • 1.5 lbs beef flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons avocado oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped (about 1 cup)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup sliced carrots
  • 1 cup fresh broccoli florets
  • 1 red pepper, cut into 1” cubes
  • 1 green pepper, cut into 1” cubes
  • 4 green onions, sliced
  • 15 oz can baby corn on the cob

Instructions

  1. Make the Hunan Sauce by whisking together all sauce ingredients in a bowl until well combined.
  2. Sear the beef in a hot skillet with avocado oil until golden brown, then remove from the pan.
  3. Cook garlic in the same pan for 30 seconds, then add onion, red pepper, green pepper, and carrots. Sauté until slightly browned.
  4. Add broccoli and baby corn, stir and sauté for 1-2 minutes.
  5. Return the seared beef to the skillet with the vegetables and add the Hunan sauce. Toss everything together and cook for 3-4 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  6. Serve with jasmine rice, basmati rice, or cauliflower rice.
