Cherry Cheese Hand Pies

Instructions
- 1. In a food processor, pulse flour, butter, salt, and sugar until the butter is the size of small peas.
- 2. Add water and pulse until the dough starts to come together. Shape into 2 discs and refrigerate for 1 hour.
- 3. In a saucepan, boil water, cornstarch, sugar, and cherries for about 5 minutes, then let cool.
- 4. Mix cream cheese, powdered sugar, and almond extract until smooth.
- 5. Preheat the oven to 450°F. Roll out the dough and cut into 5-inch rounds.
- 6. Layer each round with cream cheese mixture and about ¼ cup cherry mixture. Brush edges with egg, fold, and crimp.
- 7. Place on a baking sheet, brush with egg wash, and sprinkle with sugar. Bake for 15 minutes until golden.
