Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a cupcake pan with paper liners.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, spices, and sugars.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the oil, applesauce, eggs, vanilla, buttermilk, and pumpkin.
- Gently stir the liquid ingredients into the dry ingredients and pour the mixture into the prepared cupcake pan.
- Bake for about 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool the cupcakes completely on a wire rack.
- For the frosting, beat together the softened butter and cream cheese until smooth.
- Add the maple syrup and mix until combined.
- Gradually mix in the powdered sugar until smooth.
- Frost each cupcake liberally and enjoy.
