Plum Cornmeal Cake

Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 9-inch springform pan.
- Sift together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt in a large bowl, then whisk in ½ cup of cornmeal.
- In a stand mixer, beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy, then add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, followed by the vanilla.
- Gradually add the flour mixture and buttermilk, starting and ending with the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Spread half of the batter into the pan, top with half of the plum pieces, add the remaining batter, and finish with the rest of the plums and a sprinkle of cornmeal and turbinado sugar.
- Bake for about 50 minutes until a tester comes out clean, then cool for 15 minutes before removing from the pan.
