Ingredients

The pasta

  • ½ lb linguine or your favorite pasta shape

The sauce

  • 2 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 tablespoon garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 2 ½ cups cherry tomatoes, cut in half
  • ½ teaspoon table salt
  • teaspoon black pepper
  • 3 tablespoon fresh basil leaves, chopped
  • 2 tablespoon Romano cheese, grated

Instructions

  1. 1. Boil salted water in a large pot and cook the pasta al dente according to package directions, reserving 1 cup of pasta water before draining.
  2. 2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat, then add garlic and red pepper flakes, cooking until fragrant.
  3. 3. Add tomatoes, salt, and black pepper to the skillet, increasing heat to medium-high, and cook until the tomatoes burst, about 6-7 minutes.
  4. 4. Stir in chopped basil and remove from heat until the pasta is ready.
  5. 5. Combine the drained pasta with the tomato sauce in the skillet, tossing to mix well and adding reserved pasta water as needed.
  6. 6. Serve with a drizzle of olive oil and a sprinkle of Romano cheese and basil.
