  • ¼ teaspoon ground allspice
  • cup light or dark brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons molasses
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • a pinch kosher salt

Cream Cheese Glaze

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 ounces cream cheese
  • cups powdered sugar
  • teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • a pinch ground nutmeg
  • a pinch kosher salt
  • 1 tablespoon whole milk

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast in lukewarm milk with sugar and let it sit until foamy.
  2. Whisk together flour, sugar, salt, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice.
  3. Beat eggs with molasses and vanilla, then add to the yeast mixture.
  4. Combine the flour mixture and knead until smooth, then let rise in a greased bowl.
  5. Make the filling by mixing butter, spices, brown sugar, molasses, vanilla, and salt until smooth.
  6. Roll out the dough, spread the filling, and roll it up tightly.
  7. Slice the rolled dough into pieces and let them rise again.
  8. Bake the rolls in a preheated oven until golden.
  9. Prepare the cream cheese glaze by mixing all glaze ingredients until smooth.
  10. Pour the glaze over the warm rolls before serving.
