Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour

  • cup unsalted butter, melted
  • cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • cup sour cream or yogurt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • optional coarse sugar for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (218°C) and prepare a jumbo muffin pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. In another bowl, whisk the melted butter, oil, sugar, and eggs until combined, then mix in the sour cream, milk, and vanilla.
  4. Combine the wet and dry ingredients, folding until just mixed. Avoid overmixing and fold in the chocolate chips.
  5. Fill each muffin cup to the top with batter and sprinkle with coarse sugar if desired.
  6. Bake at 425°F for 5 minutes, then reduce the temperature to 350°F (177°C) and bake for an additional 25-26 minutes.
  7. Allow the muffins to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before serving.
